Got in before the dinner rush. Very delicious food. My husband likes this place a lot. Probably will be our go to Thai restaurant. My husband got the jalapeño beef, very good. And we got the spicy basil fried rice and rad na. Very delicious.

Food was below average for a Thai restaurant. I had grilled chicken with sweet and sour sauce. I could have made something better. I felt like the prices were also expensive. It was 40 bucks for 3 entrees which is high for take out. Will not be coming here again. The only decent thing was that the pad Thai was good. Other than that, not coming back here

I have eaten here once before, and did sort of like it. However, I just tried to go in again for lunch and was turned away. They are advertise that they are open until 3pm but don't try and go in after 2:30 or you can only order to go. I feel like this is rude, and false advertising. Therefore I will never go back!

Mediocre food for Thai in the area. Came in after purchasing a groupon. I liked that everything was made to order, including the soups. The noodles do not taste authentic, and in fact...the menu is missing a lot of thai noodle dishes. I also ordered the Mai Thai rolls, which ended up being rice paper spring rolls with a spicy mayo sauce on top, and cream cheese inside. The spicy mayo sauce and cream cheese seemed very out of character for a spring roll, and honestly didn't go with the egg roll sauce. Unless purchasing another groupon, I don't intent to dine here.

Pretty freakin'good .of all the place I've tried crispy pork, this place definitely had the best. All the other typical Thai dish were good too I was also very impressed by the Thai iced tea ,so impressed that I ordered second one to-go .most places make Thai tea too sweet, but this place made it just right.

It is horrible. The fried calamari order was embarrassingly small and had no flavor. They made me go to other businesses because they did not have enough change to take $100. The crab ragoon are tiny. But hey it's the perfect place to go if you want small portions and bland food!

The food would be five stars - very delicious and fresh tasting. They do not have a liquor license - service is okay.

This is a hidden jewel. We went on a Friday night and there were few diners there. The food was fresh, delicious and was presented attractively. If you are a Thai fan, this is the place for you!

Service was poor, dishes came out at different times, meat was tough. Tables next to us returned their food. Phad Thai had no flavor, jungle curry did not taste good. Never again, ruined my Saturday night.

This place is great. My wife and I eat lunch here every week. Great portions plus a cup of soup and two crab rangoons. All under $20! They provide chicken nuggets and fries or chicken fried rice as their "kids eat free" kids meal. My kids (7 and 4) loved both and enjoyed some of mom and dad's noodles too. The kids left saying "Let's eat here again!" A great place in a good spot. Please check them out so we can keep delicious and diverse food in JoCo!

This is the best Thai around Kansas City that I've found so far, and I've hit all the top rated spots several times. In fact, its the second best one I've ever visited. (The first is Sawasdee in Raleigh, NC. The owner had his herb garden beside the restaurant and his mother cooking in the kitchen. Man, that was good eats!) Every dish we ordered was wonderful, with authentic Thai flavors. I'm looking forward to taking my friend from Thailand there to see her impression.

The food is as good as it looks. Wonderful Panang Curry Chicken! Looks like a normal strip mall shop on the outside...don't pass by...they have a very nice atmosphere and a full menu of authentic thai inside. Highly recommended.

This restaurant can compete with the best of the best Thai. It's a delight to find something authentic in the Midwest. Also, I usually order delivery. They are always on time, don't skimp on the extras, and the one time they forgot my drink... I didn't care too much and didn't say anything. They called me right away, brought me two and remembered the next time I ordered so they gave me a small discount. Awesome service and delicious food. Highly recommend the drunken noodles and red curry.

For being a decent Thai restaurant in the middle of nowhere, this place gets major points for me. I've been to Thailand, and the ingredients there seem fresher, and more tropical. But I'm not comparing this to Thai food in Thailand. I'm not even comparing this with the amazing Thai restaurants in New York City and Los Angeles either, because there are entire zip codes full of picky Thai Foodies there. This place stands purely on its honest, family recipes, friendly staff and a selection of dishes that are impressive for Overland Park Kansas. I had the spicy basil fried rice ("Hot"... Which is about a 7 from mild to Thai Hot). There was nobody there at the time so I got everything fast including the service. They have Mango with sticky rice for dessert and Banana cake... Two of my favorites! I highly recommend this place. You won't find much better in the Kansas City Metro Area!

This place is da bomb dot com! I LOVE pad thai w/ tofu. It's so good and the portions are very generous! Their crab Rangoon are the best I've ever had. Decided to swing by here last week as I had heard good things about it. Boy was this a good choice! It was tough to decide what I wanted to try, so many good looking items on the menu (tons of pictures). I ended up with the spicy green beans, hot. Didn't want to bump up to Thai hot until I could judge the heat level. It had a good amount of zing to it, but definitely bearable and quite tasty. Also had a dumpling soup, which was delicious (large serving too). Finished off the meal with some fried ice cream which I would recommend although some may not like the thicker breading it was fried in. Unlike some of the other reviews, the service was A+. Our waiter was very friendly, quick on drink refills and clearing the table of finished dishes. This was all around 9pm and they were only open for another hour. The place was clean and still relatively busy that late in the evening. I'll definitely be returning to try more dishes!

Authentic as it gets. Family owned family recipes. Awesome flavors. Favorites are beef and green beans in the red curry. This family can adopt me anytime. They are on grub hub too, so easy to order online and its at your door in no time.

Love the food here. Penang and Massaman are amazing! Everyone should try this place! They've got a beautiful little restaurant to, as well as expertly packaged to go orders.

Delicious food. Huge portions. Great prices. I had the Pad Thai (hot) and it was fantastic. It was the perfect amount of heat. My husband had the Red Curry (Thai hot - really, really hot) and it was great too - a little too hot for by liking but still really good. The staff are very friendly although, like most authentic Thai restaurants, some don't speak English very well. The service was great and worthy of a decent tip.

Ok, so I know that the reviews on yelp weren't all that favorable but I was here for a meal with my honey and our friends. Given that they didn't pester us too much for being there for 2.5 hours on a Monday night has me giving them 4 stars. The food was pretty yummy. We ordered appetizers of steamed dumplings and spring rolls. I didn't get a taste of the dumplings, but the sure looked good. The spring rolls were quite fresh and you could tell from the wrapper they were freshly made. The peanut sauce was different from the paste that I'm normally used to; instead it was more vinegar based and definitely went with the spring rolls better than the pasty stuff that normally accompanies spring rolls. As far as the entrees ...they were pretty good, but could definitely have been much better. Our friends ordered similar things to what I ordered the Panang Curry and the Pad Thai - the only difference being choice of meat. My Pad Thai was delicious with the medium level spicy. The only complaint that I had with them was that the shrimp was slightly over-cooked. Not to the point where it was rubbery but enough for me to notice. However, the curry, was not something I enjoyed. And I normally love curry. Something about the texture threw me off, so all I really ate was the meat. I can't put my finger on why I didn't like the curry, just that something tasted...off. Not bad, just...weird. Anyway, my guy ordered the sesame chicken and from what I tasted (yummy bits snitched from his plate) it was delicious and healthy (what with him trying to eat healthy - I don't know why he's skinny!!). Overall, the meal was tasty and full of flavor. Service...well, it was ok. They mostly left us alone except to fill our drinks so I really can't say it was exceptional. But worth it for us being there so long. Will probably be back when I'm in the area and craving Thai food. A bit far from home but not too bad.

Great food! I have only gotten take-out from here, but it's always been delicious. Love the drunken noodles and chili chicken (both hot).

This place is interesting. The store itself is okay but nothing special. Not a big problem because some asian places start out like this. Small store with decor that doesn't really match the food they serve. The food itself is okay. My fiancé and I are no professionals but we do love Thai. The spring rolls were terrible and not something that I would recommend ordering. They taste more like cucumber an bagged lettuce. The pad Thai looks good but had a very strong butter flavor in there. The butter flavor really threw me off as I have never tasted it so strong before. Other than that the noodles were cooked fine. The tamarind chicken was okay, the sauce was a bit watery, the scallions were burnt and left a burnt taste in the food when you eat it. Not bad though I can see some people liking it. All in all I have things I order at every Thai place to see if I will go back. The spring rolls and pad Thai, because the spring rolls were so bad and the pad Thai tasted more like butter I will not be going back. The service wasn't bad but it did get better after I used a 10 percent coupon from yelp and increased when I kept typing and taking a picture.

I came to this city ,and looking for THAI FOOD. And try this place OMG. PAD THAI is the best in the world. My friend orders RED CURRY with chicken Is delicious. They are very friendly. I will come back for sure. I want to give them TEN STARS.................

Excellent food, everything is clean and very fresh, the galangal soup is incredible, friendly staff, not your average Thai place, taste is very unique, seems very authentic and family run

Terrific for the price. Phad Thai has been great 10 visits in a row. My friend says the drunken noodles are excellent. I like the complimentary crab rangoon and soup. 9 bucks for a full meal and dessert (crab rangoon). Love it!

One of the worst experiences I've ever had. Absolutely rude staff as well as mediocre food. Not a place I would ever recommend. Hot Basil right down the street is a thousand times better.

I ordered the spring rolls, duck spring rolls, and beef Pad Thai. The spring rolls were fried, but edible. The duck spring rolls were totally gross and inedible. The Pad Thai was the most gross abomination of this dish I have ever seen. It was a strange red color, the beef was soft and spongy and tasted horrible. The taste of the Pad Thai noodles was horrible. It went into the trash along with the spring rolls. There is one Thai place to eat in Kansas City, and this isn't it.

Just terrible. We went on a Sunday afternoon when there was only one other customer in the place. We ordered tiger cry beef, crab rangoon, phad thai, kids chicken nuggets and Bangkok platter. Crab rangoon was good, but you know it was just purchased frozen and then fried, so it's hard to mess that up. Then came my daughter's chicken nuggets. Then a wait.....about 10 minutes before my husband's phad thai came out(it was ok, we've had better). Then we wait..... another 10 minutes before the blandest dish I've ever tasted came out. I ordered my Bangkok platter medium spicy and it came out bland and without enough sauce. And just to prove how incompetent the kitchen is, they sent my tiger cry beef appetizer out after we all got our meals! My server was nice, but couldn't make up for bad food and poor timing. All that for $60! I won't be back.

I love this place! They treat customers like family! Very nice people who prepare great family recipes for the public to enjoy. I just don't understand the bad reviews that are on here. Even my 10 year old loves eating there and he hates everything! Please go to this great restaurant and decide for yourself. You'll be glad you did. Just be careful, when they say "Thai Hot", they mean it. :-)

I really like the feel of this place (didn't love, but liked), and the service was friendly enough. However, the food...my gosh, the food was below 2 stars. I feel like a 2 star rating here is being friendly. I ordered a Bangkok Platter Pork, which is basically pork and veggies with a peanut sauce. My fiance ordered a Pad Thai with Chicken...easy enough, right? So, here is what we got: First, my Bangkok Platter. It had...how do I put it...ugly meat. I don't know how it was cooked, but it definitely appeared to be boiled. I can't imagine it looking that pale grey color if it were cooked in any way where the heat was immediately touching it. The veggies were awful - clearly frozen, and tasted like they had just been reheated in the microwave with no effort. Even with all this, the temperature was luke warm at best. The peanut sauce was pretty good. But here is the thing - they just took the boiled (?) pre-cooked meat and frozen veggies, and put them on a plate before drizzling some peanut sauce over it. It wasn't mixed together in any way, nor was it even re-heated together. Pad Thai was low on flavor and meat. How hard is it to make Pad Thai at a Thai restaurant? Pei Wei has better Pad Thai than this place does. I don't know what else to say...it wasn't very good. With both dishes, we were never asked about spiciness, so we didn't even have that to help out with the flavors. Then there is the rice - it has no added flavors or anything. It's just standard, boring rice, which one would expect from a Chinese restaurant, but not a cuisine where fragrance is almost as important as taste (Thailand). When I pay for a meal, I'm sometimes willing to sacrifice quality for quantity. In most cases, I'm willing to sacrifice quantity for quality. Mai Thai seems low on both. Also, each dish was $11-$12, which would have been fine had the meal been of quality. I can only imagine how high their profit margin was on these dishes.

One of the worst restaurants I have ever been. If you go after 7:30 PM ,they will show you attitude that you feel unwanted. They only sometimes serve alcohol. It's not even remotely a Thai restaurant ,it's basically a Chinese restaurant of low class. There are better Chinese restaurant close by.

First the good: my waitress was very sweet. Now the rest: the food is uninspired and they play jazzy elevator music. My cucumber salad was in a centimeter of liquid- quite swampy. My veggie tom yum soup was blah- not enough tang. Also all of the inedible items usually found in tom yum (lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, and galangal) were chopped up into tiny pieces, so with every spoonful of soup I was pulling something inedible out of my mouth. There were also tons of chopped garlic bits in the soup- so I'm guessing they gave me the dregs. I won't be back.

Since moving to Overland Park, my fiance and I have been searching for a 1. nearby 2. reasonably priced 3. good thai food spot. Mai Thai is DEFINITELY it! Reasonable prices! Delish and SPICY food-- you can order it to taste-- but I always get HOT! Staff are friendly! Food is served quickly! Great for a quick bite to eat.

My personal opinion: My new favorite Thai place. The service was "iffy" and rude. Our server seemed like she wanted nothing more than to be left alone. The yellow curry was REALLY good! It had a good flavor. I have also ordered the pad thai with no fish oil and it was also really good as well! The atmosphere is nice but it was hard to accommodate a big group with kids since they were limited on high chairs. So great food but lacking in other areas.

    (3)
  • Erin W.

Price is pretty standard for Thai/Chinese food...more than others. I ordered the pad thai and it tasted like there was no flavor. I actually only ate a few bites, tried to doctor it up on my own, but there was no saving it. My trash took care of the rest. I won't be back

Well, I just moved to the area, and am a little disappointed. We wanted to find a good place that delivers, so we did a search on yelp for 'delivery' and Mai Thai came up. It showed a good 4 stars, and the reviews seemed pretty good so I decided to call and order. My first issue is there is a website posted on their page that doesn't even work so I wouldn't even know where to begin as far as ordering food. When I called the woman that answered the phone had a terrible customer service tone of voice with me. She was rude, and when I explained that I found them on yelp for delivery, she very abruptly said 'NO WE DON'T DELIVER'. I explained, it was on their yelp page and they should probably change that, in which her rude tone responded ' WE HAVE NEVER DELIVERED, DO YOU WANT FOOD OR NOT'. At that point I said thank you and hung up. First off, false advertising. I don't know how Yelp works, however, if it says delivery I would think they deliver. Second for the amount of higher reviews they got I was very surprised because the woman on the other end seemed as if she didn't care whether she got my business or not, too bad, I'm a good tipper. ON to the next restaurant!

Wednesday lunch. Ate by myself. Egg rolls were great. I ordered Thai Hot Spicy Chicken and it was great. Thai tea was good too. It is very difficult to get to. I arrived at noon and was served soup, egg rolls and entre all prior to 12:20. Waitress was fine. There was an odd smell at first, but I suppose it was due to just starting the grill.

Service was good, place was clean. A little out of the way for us but worth the drive. Food was very good. Wife had Beef Laap and was impressed I had some yellow curry and enjoyed it. We will be going back.

My wife and I wanted some takeout and decided to try Mai Thai for the first time tonight. We are glad we did. We ordered Pad Thai, Tom Yum soup and Thai cucumber salad. All 3 were delicious and flavorful. We asked for spicy for the soup and Pad Thai and it had just the right amount of "kick" without taking over the wonder flavors of these dishes. It looks real small from the outside and I didn't realize that it is bigger inside than it looks until I got there. We will definitely dine in next time. I can't believe there is such a good Thai restaurant only 2 miles from my house.

I really wanted to like this place because I've been searching for quality thai closer to my home than my favorite place (Sweet Siam), but Mai Thai unfortunately fell far short of my expectations. I ordered take-out, so I can't say much for the service or the atmosphere, both of which were very nice! (The woman who took our order was very nice and the place was very clean and hip-looking.) Anyway, the food was not very good at all. I ordered the galangal soup (similar to Tom Yum) and liked it until I started biting into pieces of inedible food that is usually taken out before serving. (another reviewer said "Also all of the inedible items usually found in tom yum (lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, and galangal) were chopped up into tiny pieces, so with every spoonful of soup I was pulling something inedible out of my mouth"- I should have listened she was spot on.) I also ordered the Jungle Curry, and I'm not Gordon Ramsey, but it was WAY over-seasoned and just no good, I was starving and tried to tough it out, but filled up on the tasteless jasmine rice you get as a side instead. ALSO, this, too had elements of the dish that are inedible and supposed to be removed still mixed into it, so even in the 8-9 bites I did take, 3 times I had to pull something from my mouth, it was bad. My boyfriend got the Island Garlic Pork, which was OKAY (I honestly feel that's even too much credit) which looked like dried dog treats and just tasted like over-seasoned, "spicy bacon" as he put it. The one thing we did get that was DELICIOUS were the crab rangoons, although they were smaller than usual crab rangoons, they were amazing and appeared to have been made fresh. Yeah, I pretty much inhaled those. The price was typical of Thai food in the area (10-13$ a dish), but the food was not quality enough to be worth that. I hate giving bad reviews, but the food was just plain terrible. I am bummed, to say the least, but will continue valiantly on my quest for good Thai in the area! (If you know of any, please let me know! :] )

Great food, tons of food, great price. We had hot & sour soup, edamme, spring rolls, Pad Thai tofu, garlic pork, and tamarind chicken. We fed 6 people with the huge amount of food, and Crab Rangoon comes with every meal. Edamme had the perfect amount of salt; spring rolls were lettuce, carrots, sprouts, & tofu, they were severed cold which I thought was odd, but they were still good. Pad Thai has a perfect heat level; tofu was a little too crispy but still good. Garlic pork was excellent & the tamarind chicken was superb. I think the tamarind chicken was my favorite. We all shared the food and there was plenty we left stuffed. Service was good and friendly. The waitress told us which she thought was best and I agreed with her selections. We will be back for sure. I hope this place gets busier I would hate to see it close. It is in a strange location so I hope they start getting more business.

Clean, nice environment. Pad Thai was awesome. Spicy green beans tasted awful. The after taste following each bite reminded me of the inside of a refrigerator that had old food in it. Overall not the best initial experience for this restaurant.

We had a Groupon for this place so we hopped in the Escort and zoomed down I-35 to South Overland Park to check this joint out. It's in a strip mall and you have to drive around the back to park in the front. It was a Sunday evening and there were quite a few people dining. It was a nice warm atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. We were seated promptly and our orders taken. I had the Massaman curry, which I had never had. I've had a few Thai dishes and have partaken of the cuisine very infrequently over the years. Lately, we have been eating more Thai food and really enjoying the spiciness. Anyway, the Massaman was superb! The curry was thick and peanutty and lots of vegetables that weren't soggy and tasteless. Plenty of chicken too. The prices were not bad either. Too bad it is so far away from where we live but we do plan on visiting again in the future although Thai Place is still our favorite in Westport.

Don't let the strip mall location discourage you from trying. All of the dishes I have tried have been very good. Pad Thai, black soy noodles, tiger cry beef and spring rolls have all impressed. Medium spice is a generous medium! My 11 year old son gets the black soy sauce noodles with chicken and orders EXTRA broccoli! That is unheard of. If he eats his vegetables I will pay the little extra that it costs to eat here. The portions are plenty and service is fast and friendly. All in all a nice neighborhood gem. Take out is good too.

It is a nicely decorated, clean place, the staff is pleasant also. I thought this restaurant was related to the Thai Place restaurants/family but if the Crab Rangoon, the reason for my visit, was any indication, that is not the case. I will say that that Beef mint salad was good and the Chicken coconut soup was good also. But the Crab Rangoon was a huge disappointment! it tasted like mayonaise of all things and not at all like other Crab Rangoons I've had over many years. I like the Crab Rangoon at the Thai Place the best and that prompted my visit to this restaurant for convenience. Very, very disappointing.

I normally order take out, and have eaten in the restaurant twice. However, great service, friendly staff and the food is good too. I give it 4 stars, the main reason being the food is not OUTSTANDING but still very good. Also, the consistency is spot on. Every time I order, the food is always the same as before. Which in any sort of niche market type of restaurant can become an issue in my experience. Prices are fair.

I was surprised at how good the food was. Appetizers came out a little too quick, so they were obviously pre-made, but they were still quite good. Girlfriend and I both really enjoyed our dishes there. We were the only ones in the restaurant for the hour or so we were there. Sounds like it's been slow there for a while now. I hope things pick up.
